In the morning, we visited the companies Schweizer Salinen AG and CABB AG in Pratteln, where we learned in detail about the still existing Swiss basic chemicals industry based on salt and sulfur.

In the afternoon, we visited uptownBasel in Arlesheim and were amazed by the development of the area in the historical context of the last 200 years and the establishment of the Straumann Group, as well as the highlight at quantumBasel, Switzerland's first commercially usable quantum computer.

In the evening, we held our successful 80th General Assembly, including the re-election of the seven-member Executive Board.

Finally, we enjoyed the anniversary dinner with over 45 participants at uptownGarden. Many thanks to the employees of the Ullrich Enterprise Group for their extraordinary service.

The Ilmac industry event is the exclusive international trade show that covers the entire value chain of the chemical and life sciences industries. Ilmac has its origins in the Swiss trade fair for laboratory, measurement, and automation technology in chemistry, which was first held in Basel in 1959.

Today, Ilmac takes place every year, alternating between Basel and Lausanne.

With its promise to “Inspire the Future of Chemistry and Life Sciences", Ilmac promotes the development of new ideas and solutions and presents the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in areas such as laboratory technology, biotech, AI, and robotics.

Therefore, it is only natural that we at SVAN, as the Swiss Professional Association for Applied Natural Sciences, are always present at Ilmac, both in Basel and Lausanne.

In 2025, we were able to celebrate our 80th anniversary as an exhibitor and also attend Ilmac's 66th anniversary party. This is because both we at SVAN and the industry event Ilmac have completed our structural and digital transformation after five years.

Of course, we celebrated this in style.

From Tuesday, September 23, 2026, to Wednesday, September 24, 2026, we at SVAN will be at Ilmac Lausanne.
